Nyloc nut (DIN 985): Nuts with a nylon locking ring inserted. Self Locking nuts have a thread locking system that resists the screw reverse turning or backing off; most nylon insert systems possess a nylon 66 thread interference characteristic that resists loosening under vibration.
Flange nut (DIN 6923): Has a wide flange at one end that acts as an integrated washer. This serves to distribute the pressure of the nut over the part being secured, reducing the chance of damage to the part and making it less likely to loosen as a result of an uneven fastening surface.
Dome nuts (DIN 1587): Different to standard nuts in that their threads are capped by a dome shaped lid. The capped thread can be useful for a number of reasons depending on the application.
